A great truck for you will likely be very different from that of another driver, so getting a truck you can customize is important. The F-150 was designed for arduous duties and can be customized in many ways. Learn more about the 2023 Ford F-150 trims, features, and capabilities below.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Ford F-150's most common trims are the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. There are also the two off-road-oriented Tremor and Raptor variants. The Tremor is geared around taking a trailer or fully loaded cargo bed off the pavement, while the Raptor is suited to speedy off-road racing. Full LED running lights are standard, and the Ford F-150 XL trims have 17-inch silver steel wheels, while the Platinum gets 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, and each other model has unique sets that fall somewhere in between.
Engine (Power)
Ford's F-150 pickup has five engine options, all matched with an electronic or hybrid 10-speed automatic gearbox. Up first is a 3.3-liter V-6 engine with 290 horsepower, followed by an efficient 3.0-liter diesel V-6 producing 250 horsepower. The next engine up is an EcoBoost 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 engine with 325 horsepower. Finally, a 3.5-liter V-6 turbocharged engine produces 400 horsepower for even greater power. Ford also provides a 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 engine that includes a remarkable 410 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
On top of competitive power ratings, the F-150 handles well in corners, and its light and simple steering and a premium, quiet ride overall. With the base V-6 engine and rear-wheel drive, the 2023 F-150 gets 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Models with the 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine and RWD achieve 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The F-150 hybrid has the greatest fuel efficiency in the range, with 25 mpg in both city and highway driving.
Interior
The F-150 Regular Cab has one row of seats for up to three people, but the Super Cab and SuperCrew variants have two rows that seat up to six. All versions include comfy, supportive, and adjustable front seats, with cloth upholstery as standard. In terms of infotainment, Ford's SYNC 4 system is straightforward to operate, with logical menus and options. A plethora of wide buttons and knobs on the center stack make it straightforward to modify things like music volume, as well.
Graphics on the regular 8.0-inch touchscreen are nice, but the optional 12.0-inch display is even easier to view and adjust. With a completely digital instrument cluster, the F-150 is one of the segment's technological leaders. Connect a phone with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and let passengers connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as use USB connections or Bluetooth. With the right trim, you can make use of in-built GPS, eight- or 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio, satellite and HD Radio, and wireless device charging.
Safety Features
In addition to automatic high-beam lights and automated emergency braking, all F-150 models have rain-sensing windscreen wipers and hill start assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning are standard features on XLT and higher trims. Trucks outfitted with the Co-Pilot 360 technology get adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, emergency evasive steering, and intersection collision prevention.
